hazelnut coffee

Hazelnut coffee

  • Author: Chef Kai
  • Total Time: 15 minutes
  • Yield: 2 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • ½ cup whole coffee beans
  • ¼ cup raw hazelnuts
  • 2 cups hot water (195–205°F or 90–96°C)
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
  • ¼ teaspoon cinnamon (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon cocoa nibs (optional)
  • Frothed milk, whipped cream, or crushed hazelnuts (optional)

Instructions

1️⃣ Roast the hazelnuts
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Spread the hazelnuts on a baking sheet and toast for 8–10 minutes until fragrant. Let cool, then rub them in a towel to remove the skins.

2️⃣ Grind the coffee and hazelnuts together
In a coffee grinder, blend the coffee beans with the roasted hazelnuts until they reach a medium grind consistency.

3️⃣ Brew the hazelnut coffee
Use a French press, drip coffee maker, or pour-over method. Brew as usual with hot water just below boiling. Let steep for a rich, nutty flavor.

4️⃣ Perfect your cup
Stir in vanilla extract, cinnamon, or cocoa nibs if using. Top with frothed milk or whipped cream, then sprinkle crushed hazelnuts for extra texture.

Notes

Pro oh là là tip: for an even deeper hazelnut flavor, soak the roasted hazelnuts in hot water for 5 minutes before grinding. This enhances their natural oils and aroma.
